Dear Alessandra,

Our Customer Service Manager was on Gili Trawangan last weekend and send the following report:

Inspection Report – Hotel update Gili Trawangan / Gili Air - 5th & 6th May 2017

By Anne Faulmann

General:

Please be informed that the government is planning to build proper roads on Gili Trawangan and Gili Air made out of boulders (small stones) as in the picture. On one side will be the beach and on the other sides the buildings/ shops/ hotels etc. They are as well planning to build a park with huts where you can relax on Gili Trawangan. This is planned for the area before Ombak sunset, which is the green area on the picture. Moreover, they as well plan to rebuild the already existing jetty

Beach situation:

I can state that most of the beach areas in front of restaurant and hotels are already cleaned up and free of buildings. However, this is only done in a certain kind of way to be still able to operate daily business. If you look on the sights there is still a lot of ruble from buildings and rubbish which needs to be removed.

Dear Alessandra,

Thank you for your email. Gili Trawangan is a party island with lots of young travellers and back packers and especially during high season very crowded. However it is the only Gili Island with the best possible facilities of those three. We suggest clients travelling with kids or couples the small neighbor Island Gili Air, which is still busy but with less party/entertainment. If clients, especially with kids or couples, looking for a quiet island, we suggest Gili Meno, which is situated between Gili Trawangan and Gili Air.

Waste is a general problem on Gilis. Some major hotels such as Villa Ombak regularly clean the beach in the morning but of course just in front of the hotel.

My best regards
