Dear friends and business partners The enforcement of local regulations of beachside construction on Gili Trawangan recently has seen some dramatic changes. Regulations stipulated in 2016 demanded accommodation providers, restaurants, beach clubs and bars to follow guidelines in constructing within certain distances from the beach. Until this week, service providers were able to slowly adhere to these rules. Unfortunately, most of these businesses ignored these stipulations, resulting in forced demolishing works over the past days. In addition, to compensate for the loss of revenue, many properties have started constructing new bars and restaurants on the property itself, resulting in a sudden spike in construction projects. As of today, Asian Trails Indonesia can confirm the following, verified by our team: The Trawangan

  • The management has removed its beach restaurant and has announced the construction of a new restaurant (date to be confirmed)

  • The Trawangan’s restaurant, next to the pool, operates as normal

Vila Ombak

  • In line with these new regulations, the resort has removed its beach restaurant and serves meals now in the new restaurant building on the ground floor

  • The resort has commenced with working on the interior inside the new meeting room and restaurant on the second floor, said to be completed by the end of March 2017

Desa Dunia Beda

  • Employees of the Desa Dunia Resort have removed all gazeboes and the beach deck at the beach front

  • Reports from the management show that no construction work is scheduled for the moment

Gili Eco Villas

  • Owners have commenced with the construction of a new restaurant, to be completed by mid of March 2017

  • The existing restaurant inside the hotel area is operating as normal

Aston Sunset

Ombak Sunset

  • The resort has commenced with the construction of a new restaurant next to the spa to be completed by the end of April 2017
